Kary Deng is a senior at James Logan High School in California, where she has competed in speech and debate through high school. During that time she has placed 2nd at the Harvard Invitational, 4th at the MLK Invitational, 7th at NSDA and has also finaled at Glenbrooks and CHSSA State.
As a 3x Ascend alumna, Kary has spent years immersed in the curriculum, utilizing all of the lessons into her own rounds to compete at the highest levels of the national circuit. She enjoys how congress is a balance between speech and debate and believes that the best speeches come from embracing your personality rather than trying to fit a mold. She hopes to empower students through competition and collaboration where students can grow as debaters, speakers, and leaders.
Outside of debate, you can catch her hanging out with friends, sunset chasing, playing pickleball, treasure hunting at thrift stores, hanging out with her two dogs (Yuki and Yoshi), or trying to score last minute concert tickets. She's excited to work with you all this summer!
