Jack Wlazlowski
Ascend California - Congressional Debate Junior Instructor
Jack is a senior at Flower Mound High School in Flower Mound, Texas, where he has competed in speech and debate all four years. He has experience in an extensive variety of events including Extemporaneous Speaking, Worlds School’s Debate, Duo Interpretation, and of course, Congressional Debate. With Congressional debate being his primary focus, he has reached the final round at nationally recognized tournaments such as UT Austin, UC Berkeley, and the Churchill Classic, won the FBK Round Robin, placed 4th in his state at the TFA tournament, and became an NSDA Finalist in the House. Jack went from not qualifying to the National tournament just a year prior, to being one of the top twenty students in the nation as a result of Ascend California.
As a 2x Ascend alumna, Jack has spent a significant time not just understanding the Ascend curriculum, but also using it to get to the national final stage. His primary philosophy for congressional debate is that it is one of the best debate styles for helping participants understand and create a way of communication unique to them. He finds passion in helping students stay true to their identity and style as they progress in this activity.
When he's not in the chamber, Jack is probably dominating at pickleball, playing Overwatch or Apex Legends on his Xbox, or watching A24 horror movies. He’s ready to help students apply what they learn at Ascend just as he has throughout his career.
