Adja Niang
Ascend California - Congressional Debate Junior Instructor
Adja Niang is a senior at Keller High School in Texas, where she has been involved in speech and debate for the past four years and has spent the last two competing in Congressional Debate. As President of her team, Adja has coached and mentored students throughout her entire high school career, helping build a stronger, more confident program while developing her own competitive voice. She has reached final rounds at major tournaments including UT Austin Longhorn Classic and the Texas Forensics Association State Championship. Ascend's strong guidance has allowed her these achievements just a little over a year after beginning Congressional Debate.
Adja's approach to Congressional Debate is rooted in blending argumentation techniques from multiple debate formats and understanding the way individuals process and respond to policy. She believes that Congress is most powerful when debaters recognize not only the structure of an argument, but the human implications behind it. Her coaching emphasizes helping students develop a style that is both analytically rigorous and personally authentic.
Outside of round, Adja enjoys reading, spending time with friends, playing sand volleyball, and baking. As a recent Ascend alumnus, she's excited to join camp and help students grow with the same curiosity and passion that has defined her own debate journey!
