Aaron Piehl is a freshman Economics major at UT Austin on the pre-law track. He competed in Congressional Debate and Extemporaneous Speaking throughout high school, advancing to elimination rounds at major tournaments including the Barkley Forum, TFA State, Harvard, NSDA Nationals, the TOC, and UIL State. He has privately coached students who advanced to final rounds at TFA State and the Stanford Tournament.
His teaching philosophy emphasizes "strong rhetoric and thorough research" in debate. He views congressional debate as "an exercise in framing, quick thinking, and advocacy" that allows students to persuade peers through both evidence-based arguments and eloquent delivery. Outside debate, he enjoys pickleball, roller skating, chess, cooking, writing about current events, and playing Pokémon.
